Job description

Frontier Group is a policy think tank that’s part of The Public Interest Network, a network of more than a dozen organizations working to save the planet, advocate for the public interest, and protect consumers. We work on issues that speak to the need for a new kind of politics and, through research, writing, policy analysis, and new ideas, seek to challenge decision-makers and all of us to stop tolerating problems that are increasingly absurd in an age of advancing technology and growing abundance.

  • How do we preserve irreplaceable resources like air, water and a livable climate for our grandchildren?
  • How do we transform vast systems of transportation and energy that were designed to meet the needs of a different century?
  • How do we produce food for a growing world in ways that won’t threaten human health and destroy the environment?
  • What will be the future of work and how people participate in the economy as automation and technological advances predict many jobs may soon not be necessary to produce what we need?
  • What metrics should we use to evaluate our society as we enter an age where the paradigm of “economic growth above all else” may be causing more problems than it’s solving?

Questions like these drive our work. Frontier Group and The Public Interest Network work in partnership to push the conversation forward and shape effective public policy strategies to address these and other of our nation’s biggest challenges and opportunities.

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and drawing conclusions from recent research and thought-leaders in environmental science, public health, economics, and other fields.
  • Doing quantitative analysis of existing data sets and sometimes collecting original data through interviews, surveys and collaboration with academic researchers.
  • Writing clear, concise reports and papers.
  • Producing op-eds, journal articles, social media, fact sheets and other communications to disseminate the results of our research.
  • Evaluating policy alternatives and working with federal and state advocates to develop principles for evaluating policy proposals.
  • Attending conferences and roundtables with thought-leaders on topics including environmental sustainability, public health, and economics

Candidates should have excellent writing skills, a problem-solving orientation, the ability to thrive under deadlines, and the ability to think critically and present persuasive arguments. We’re looking for individuals with a track record of academic success and proven leadership ability. Familiarity with quantitative analysis is a plus; as is experience in debate, public speaking, journalism, political campaigning, fundraising, and/or grassroots political organizing.

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has. We offer a competitive benefits package.
