Job description
Get out the Youth Vote in 2022
New Voters Project Administrative Assistant
On Election Day, young people will be the largest and most diverse group of potential voters, with distinct values and ideas. But the issues that affect young people are not being addressed because the youth don’t vote in big enough numbers. Despite record-breaking youth voter turnout during the 2020 presidential election, young people continue to be underrepresented in our democracy. We can choose to let other people make decisions that impact the future, or we can vote and get a future that works for all of us.
That’s why the Student PIRGs is running the New Voters Project, our non-partisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaign on college campuses across the country for the 2022 midterm elections this fall.
We’re hiring an Administrative Assistant to help manage the administrative work to make our voter registration drives successful.
As the Administrative Assistant with the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing systems for tracking voter registration forms from on-campus voter registration drives across the country
- Managing quality control for voter registration drives to ensure accuracy of our voter registration efforts
- Helping to train staff and student fellows on compliance and administrative processes
- Data analysis to identify trends and improve voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts
- Managing lists of young voters to run effective get-out-the-vote efforts
- Helping to manage subgrants and stipends for the project
- Helping to identify and interview candidates for organizer positions to aid in our efforts across the country
The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, solid computer skills, experience working with information databases, and some experience with grassroots organizing and an interest in working on a large, non-partisan youth voter mobilization project.
Duration: This position is a short term commitment and will begin in August or September 2022 and continue through December 2022. There may be an opportunity to continue as an administrative assistant into 2023 as well.
