Job description

Executive Assistant, PIRG

The Executive Office of PIRG seeks an Assistant, based in Denver, Colorado. We are looking for a smart, committed, and detail-oriented candidate to join our team to assist in managing the daily operations of the organization and in long-term planning. This position will also work directly with the leadership of Environment America and The Public Interest Network.

PIRG’s mission is to champion the public interest — to speak out for a healthier, safer world in which we’re freer to pursue our own individual well-being and the common good. The problems we address aren’t progressive or conservative, they’re just problems that our country shouldn’t tolerate in an age of great abundance and technological progress. And these problems affect all of us, whether we live in a blue state, red state or purple state. To solve them, we need to find common ground around commonsense ideas.

PIRG is part of The Public Interest Network, which supports and operates more than a dozen nonprofit advocacy groups. At The Public Interest Network, we take a principled, pragmatic approach in our work. We connect big ideas to concrete policy changes that improve the quality of our environment and people’s lives. We’re transpartisan — we want to reach everyone who might agree with us from across the political spectrum. We value dialogue over polarization. We are clear about what our mission is, and we stick to it. We invest in people and strategies that deliver results — we are advocates, lobbyists, campaigners, litigators, policy researchers and grassroots organizers.

Our Executive Assistant helps us make all of this happen. They work closely with the Network’s leadership team to decide and drive priorities, and provide guidance and backup support to our groups.

If our vision for a better world excites you, then we hope you will apply.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant will work within the President’s Office of The Public Interest Network and provide operations support to groups nationwide. Representative responsibilities include:

  • Staff Support: Ensure that the President, Vice Presidents, and other senior staff have the resources they need to meet deadlines and goals. You will coordinate projects and schedules, create and maintain systems for tracking work, and maintain organizational files and records.

  • Communications: Coordinate internal communication between staff including internal email updates, conference calls, and meetings.

  • Event Logistics: PIRG and The Public Interest Network hosts a range of events both virtual and in-person each year including staff retreats, campaign activities, trainings and Board meetings. The Executive Assistant is at the forefront of planning and organizing these events.

Qualifications

Applicants must be goal-driven and sharp, with a track record of exercising independent judgment and discretion to solve problems. Top candidates will be driven by the idea of building a non-profit organization, have an outstanding work ethic, and the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information.  Ideal candidates will have one to three years of experience but we will consider entry level candidates with strong volunteer and campus leadership. Candidates must be able to make a two-year commitment to the position.

The compensation range for this position is $33,000-$36,000 and depends on relevant experience, education, and location. PIRG offers an excellent benefits package.
