Member Relations Coordinator
Fund for the Public Interest is hiring a smart and passionate organizer to oversee our member relations operation. This position is housed within our Sustainer department. As a non-profit we depend on support from our members. This job is focused on building that support with every interaction. The Coordinator will oversee several part time staff, work with over 60 groups, keep records in our membership database, and report on millions of dollars of income.
Fund for the Public Interest is a national, non-profit organization that runs campaigns for America’s leading environmental and public interest organizations. Since 1982,the Fund has helped engage people on the most pressing problems of our day and turn that support into meaningful social change. We now run one of the nation’s largest and most effective canvassing and telephone membership operation. Monthly givers, also known as Sustainers, are some of our best members who give our groups ongoing support. We work with groups in the Public Interest Network, including the state Public Interest Research Groups, U.S. PIRG, state environmental groups in 29 states, Environment America, Environmental Action, Center for Public Interest Research, Fund for the Public Interest, Fund for the Public Interest Foundation, Community Action Works, Green Corps, and the National Environmental Law Center.
Representative Responsibilities:
As Member Relations Coordinator you will manage our member relations strategy and:
- Hire and train part time staff to talk with members and reply to emailed requests.
- Implement our affinity strategy of mailings, emails and phone calls.
- Work with our citizen outreach departments.
- Report on income and giving trends.
- Participate in Membership Services and Monthly Giving planning meetings.
- Manage materials inventory, art, and reorders.
- Actively problem solve any member or database issues.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants need to be goal-driven and sharp, with great problem-solving skills, excellent judgment and discretion and the ability to oversee significant projects and have experience overseeing staff. Applicants must be detail-oriented and highly organized, with a friendly and professional demeanor and the maturity to manage confidential and/or sensitive information. They should be driven by the idea of building a non-profit organization and show a demonstrated commitment to social change, and an appreciation of the importance of organizing.
Relevant administrative or customer service experience, preferably in an activist, nonprofit or political organization and programming in SQL, Excel or Access a plus but not a requirement. An ideal candidate has at least one to three years of professional experience.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual compensation range for this position is $33,100-$35,705 and depends on relevant experience and education. The Public Interest Network offers an excellent benefits package.
