The Community Voters Project is hiring an Entry-Level Administrator to support Organizers and Advocates working to increase voter registration.

This summer and fall, The Fund for the Public Interest is running the Community Voters Project, a campaign to increase voter registration and participation rates of underrepresented communities. Historically African American and Latino voters have been significantly underrepresented at the polls. To break this cycle, Community Voters Project aims to close the registration and participation gaps between these voters and the rest of the voting population so that the interests and viewpoints of all Americans are fairly represented.

Since 1984, Community Voters Project and its affiliated programs have helped register over 3 million voters across the country. The Fund for the Public Interest, in partnership with CVP, has trained hundreds of staff in voter registration and staff management skills they can take with them into other civic engagement efforts.

Job Description:

The Administrative team works provides operations support to groups nationwide. Responsibilities may include:

  • Staff Support: Coordinate projects & schedules; create and maintain systems for tracking campaign product and goals; and maintain files and records.
  • Communications: Coordinate internal communication between staff directors and departments.
  • Event Logistics: Plan and organize staff retreats, campaign activities, trainings, and Board Meetings.
  • Office management: Manage the organization’s physical infrastructure and information technology.
  • Special Projects: Assist leadership staff and department heads with special projects as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must be detail-oriented and highly organized, have a friendly and professional demeanor, be mature enough to manage confidential and/or sensitive information. Candidates must be comfortable working with computers and technology and specifically must be comfortable working with Microsoft Excel. The successful candidate will be excited by the idea of making social change and winning on issues.

 

Candidates for this position should have between one and three years of administrative experience. We value experience with nonprofit organizations and political campaigns.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The target annual compensation for this position is $25,000 in the first year. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package.  We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.
