About Us

Work for Progress was started in the early part of 2008 by a group of committed activists dedicated to connecting talented, hardworking individuals with nonprofit organizations. With the importance of the issues facing our country and the excitement of the presidential primaries, it became clear to us that individuals who wanted to engage in the political process needed one place to find jobs with progressive campaigns and organizations. So Work for Progress was created to help activist-minded jobseekers connect with the progressive campaigns and organizations that are working across the country on a wide range of progressive issues.

In addition to our primary focus of recruiting staff, Work for Progress has served as the employer for campaigns. In 2008, working with Progressive Future and Environment America, Work for Progress hired and managed several hundred salaried staff as well as thousands of paid canvassers who registered voters as well as ran a voter persuasion focused get-out-the-vote drive.
