Speak For The Public Interest with Illinois PIRG
Every day, whether it’s in Washington, D.C., a state capitol, or a corporate boardroom, someone is making a decision that will affect all of us — it could be about our health, our safety, or our democracy.
Special interest groups spend billions of dollars to influence these decisions. Someone needs to speak for the public interest. As an Illinois PIRG Fellow, that’s what you’ll do.
What It Means To Be A Fellow
As a fellow with Illinois PIRG, you won’t just be behind a desk. You’ll be out in the real world, helping us launch a public health campaign to educate the community on the rising danger of antibiotic resistant bacteria (also known as “superbugs”), and what we can do to fight it. You’ll also help us continue to lead advocacy efforts for strong, well-executed implementation of Automatic Voter Registration, the protection of individuals’ privacy rights in this growing digital world, and much more. Whether it’s getting the issue into the media, helping our coalitions to grow, or organizing events and rallies, your work will directly contribute to achieving real policy wins.
This is a two-year program, expressly designed to prepare future leaders with Illinois PIRG. We look for smarts, leadership experience, top-notch written and verbal skills, and an eagerness to learn. We value experience organizing, including building campus groups.
