From droughts and wildfires in the west to heat waves and Superstorms like Sandy in the east, extreme weather fueled by global warming is happening now and it’s hitting us at home.  2016 is on track to be the hottest year on record, and in Pennsylvania, nearly 9 out of 10 people live in areas that were listed as federal disaster zones due to extreme weather between 2007 and 2013.

We know what we need to do: we need to get to net zero climate pollution by 2050 by stop burning fossil fuels and moving to 100% renewable energy.

State Director Positions

Pennsylvania Climate Defender

From Hurricane Sandy to the worst drought since the Dust Bowl, extreme weather is becoming more frequent and severe. If we don’t act now to cut global warming pollution, the consequences for future generations will be devastating. PennEnvironment’s Climate Defender Organizers are responsible for recruiting, developing and mobilizing hundreds of volunteers in critical communities around climate change. By the end of the campaign, organizers will have built a volunteer team that can continue the fight for Pennsylvania’s environment for years to come.
